Teacher Appreciation Day (also known as National Teacher Day) is celebrated on the Tuesday of the first full week in May. The National Parent-Teacher Association named the first full week of May as “Teacher Appreciation Week” in 1985, and the National Education Association designated Tuesday of that week “National Teacher Day.” The holiday celebrates the work of teachers, and honors the impact that they have on students’ lives.
